Cardamom Tented Camp – There’s No Other Place in Cambodia Like This

Kayaking the most peaceful river in Cambodia

Cambodia is full of surprises.

After living in the country for almost 4 years, Sara and I decided to explore Koh Kong province, a less frequented but reportedly beautiful area of Cambodia.

We booked 2 nights at the Cardamom Tented Camp – a glamping adventure in Botum Sakor National Park.

We arrived in Trapeang Rung, and were taken on a 1 hour boat ride down a picturesque river.

Right away I noticed something different about this area. It was quiet, very, very quiet for Cambodia.

Cardamom Tented Camp is a very unique place in the Kingdom of Wonder. The resort/camp is in the middle of nowhere – 11 KM by boat to the nearest village. The area is protected, so there are no roads, no one living close by, no logging happens in the area, no motorbikes, no noise at all. The only other traffic we saw on the river was the park wardens.

The camp is also entirely the reason that the area is protected. Without it, the land would have been sold off and even more animals would have lost their homes. It’s a not-for-profit business. All the money that the camp makes goes into protecting the area.

It’s also probably the most eco-friendly business in all of Cambodia. The entire camp is run on solar energy. Everything that can be recycled is, and the water is treated on site.

We spent the 3 days kayaking, hiking, searching for wildlife, swimming, zip-lining, and just soaking in the peacefulness.

Watch the video to see the full adventure, and I highly recommend a stay at Cardamom Tented Camp.
