Cambodia is full of surprises.

After living in the country for almost 4 years, Sara and I decided to explore Koh Kong province, a less frequented but reportedly beautiful area of Cambodia.

We booked 2 nights at the Cardamom Tented Camp – a glamping adventure in Botum Sakor National Park.

We arrived in Trapeang Rung, and were taken on a 1 hour boat ride down a picturesque river.

Right away I noticed something different about this area. It was quiet, very, very quiet for Cambodia.

A lot of people are quick to write-off Ho Chi Minh City’s Chinatown.

Why would I go to Chinatown in Vietnam?

Those same people are probably staying in the backpacker district. In Vietnamese, this area is called Khu Tây Balô, which basically means Westerner Backpack District. It’s the equivalent to Chinatown but for backpacking westerners.

In Vietnamese, the Chinatown area is called Cho Lon, which means great market. This is because it’s the home to the largest market in Saigon, Binh Tay. Cho Lon sort of straddles district 5 and 6. It was once its own city, settled by the Hoa people in 1778. Eventually, Saigon expanded and the two cities merged.

I seriously love Ho Chi Minh City’s Chinatown, so I hope you take the time to visit it, and I hope this walking tour helps you appreciate this unique area of Saigon.

Biking in Inle Lake was one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Myanmar. The countryside is almost as beautiful as the lake itself. In this video, we explore the area around Inle Lake, and take a boat tour to various workshops and factories. We see how fabric is made out of lotus, how to extract silver, how to make wooden boats, and we sample some local cigars. If you are going to Myanmar, biking in Inle Lake is a must. The boat tour felt a bit fabricated, but you should definitely get out on the lake. It’s possible to do sunset tours, or just take the bicycle loop and cross the lake then.
